Required bi-annual update of the Continuity of County Government Plan
Points to Consider:
Every two years, the State of South Carolina requires each County to update its Continuity of County Government Plan, as prepared by the Lancaster County Emergency Management staff, upon the start of every two-year County Council term.
The highlights of the plan include:
- The preparation and coordination of plans for emergency management within the County in the event of a disaster, for the exercise of emergency powers and for the continuity of County government, in a manner consistent with the South Carolina Code of Laws Title 1, Article 1.
- The policy of Lancaster County to make effective preparation and use of resources, and facilities for dealing with any emergency or disaster that may occur.
- Outline of the role of the Emergency Management Director and the succession plan of authority of the County Administrator, County Board Chair, County Council and other elected officials, in order to establish a local emergency declaration and deploy the necessary resources needed to address an emergency.
