Presentation on the approved and completed road projects since 2018, along with a discussion of future road projects.
Points to Consider:
From 2018 to the end of 2024, Lancaster County will have completed over 94+ miles of road improvements across the county totaling an estimated $37,171,682.
The County, in coordination with the SC Department of Transportation, has completed numerous road improvements and has more planned through 2024. This coordination includes with voters through the Capital Projects Sales Tax Program, as well as with the State Delegation-appointed County Transportation Committee (CTC).
This coordination, and enhanced funding from the State and local Road fee, has helped the County to complete an unprecedented number of road improvements throughout the County over the past four years, with more projects scheduled through 2024.
County staff continues to evaluate roads needs and coordinates with SCDOT on future projects that include new road strategies, such as roundabouts, turn lanes, and signalizations.
Staff is also working with RFATS as they complete their study for the Highway 521 widening concepts.
Funding and Liability Factors:
These projects were funded by the Capital Project Sales Tax, Capital Project Sales Tax Proviso , County Transportation Committee (CTC), and the local Road Fee.
Given the significant growth occurring throughout the County, the County will be challenged by the limited amount of funding currently available for road projects to address the growing traffic throughout the County.
