Council Action Requested:

The State of South Carolina prescribes how a county's grievance process is administered.  This process incorporates the ability for a county employee to request a grievance hearing by a committee of peers established by the County Council, if they are not satisfied with disciplinary decisions made by their supervisor or department director that impacts their employment.

The grievance hearing allows a requesting employee facing disciplinary action to present their side of the story and ask for reconsideration to the Committee, which in turn, makes a recommendation to the County Administrator to uphold the disciplinary action or change it.

After the Committee has made its recommendation to the County Administrator, the decision of the County Administrator is final.

The Supervisors for these employees have approved their appointments and they have been recommended by the Human Resources Department for this Committee.

These two employees were originally appointed for one year terms that expired on 12/30/2022. We are asking that these two employees be reappointed for another 3 year term that would expire on 12/30/2025. Employees terms are staggered.
