Council Action Requested:
Whether to grant an easement to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC ("Duke Energy") for the purpose of providing electrical service and communication lines to 1112 Elliott Street.
Duke Energy received a request for service to the property adjacent/near the County's property, the Laurie Brice Soccer Field. In order to provide service to the requesting customer, Duke Energy will need to obtain a new easement agreement from the County to install facilities across County property located at 1140 Elliott Street. An easement is needed from the County to allow Duke Energy to install, maintain and access the facilities.
Points to Consider:
The easement agreement is Exhibit A to Ordinance 2023-1844.
Parks and Recreation Director, Chris Clouden, has seen the easement map and has stated that the easement will not interfere with anything at the field because the easement itself is out of the way and that the field is not being utilized right now.
Funding and Liability Factors:
There are no funding issues in regards to the easement.
Recommendation:
Approve the easement agreement.
