Council Action Requested:

To appropriate funds and to approve a detailed budget for Lancaster County for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025; to set millage rates for the levy of ad-valorem taxes; to approve a schedule of taxes fees and charges for FY 2024-25; and to provide for matters related thereto.

Points to Consider:

Council received the Administrator's FY25 Recommended Budget presentation at its May 8 Council Meeting.  Based on the second reading discussion by County Council, the updated budget recommendation is balanced and totals $149,321,741 with a 0.60 mil decrease in the general fund and a 1.10 mil increase in the capital improvement fund.

 

The overall millage is a decrease of 0.40 mils, factoring in a reduction in the county debt millage.

Funding and Liability Factors:

Per SC State law, a budget must be approved by June 30 each year for the new fiscal year beginning July 1. This will set the county budget for next fiscal year.



Recommendation:

Approve the budget for FY 2025.
