Council Action Requested:

Approve the submission of a grant application to the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission for State funds to repair erosion to drainage structures and slope at the Lancaster County Airport.

Optimize sources of non-property tax funding to advance the priorities of the County.
Points to Consider:

Two box drains and the pipe in between have failed along the airfield runway at the LKR airport. 

 

The SC Aeronautics Commission does offer a grant program to help cover 75% of the cost for these types of expenses. 

 

The County will submit a grant request for state support, as the total cost of the project is $156,586.

 

The request for the State share of the project will be $117,439 while the grant match for the County will be $39,147. The SC Aeronautics Commission will review applications at their August 20, 2024 board meeting.



Funding and Liability Factors:

The grant match of $39,147 will come out of the grant match funds from the 2024-25 fiscal year budget.



Recommendation:

Approve submission of an SCAC grant, and authorize local grant match funding.
