Council Action Requested:

Approve the Resolution to authorize the grant and grant match for a federal grant to conduct and establish a county-wide safety analysis to identify and prioritize current and future areas of focus to reduce fatalities and injuries from all modes of transportation for the purposes of creating an action plan.

Optimize sources of non-property tax funding to advance the priorities of the County.
Points to Consider:

Lancaster County was awarded a FY 2023 December Planning & Development Grant from the US Dept of Transportation -- Federal Highway Administration, in the amount of $280,000. The total project cost is $350,000, with $70,000 in local costs. This award will be used by Lancaster County to develop a comprehensive safety action plan, and to conduct supplemental planning activities to develop a GIS database of County-owned and maintained roadways with information related to roadway widths, right-of-way, signage inventory, etc.



Funding and Liability Factors:

The grant match of $70,000 will come out of the approved grant match fund.



Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the grant and grant match Resolution.
